The Grave Is Far From Silent

Description

This has been in the works for forever; I stopped working on it for at least several months haha~ But I finally finished it tonight, and while it didn't quite turn out as I hoped it would, I'm overall satisfied with it.

Kitten felt water instantly soak her fur as she fell through the ocean. She closed her eyes and silently screamed. Voices surrounded her, pounding at her fur. There was no heads nor tails to be made of the clamor. They were the voices of a mob, all yelling over one another until suddenly they were cut off by another voice. The voice was familiar and silky and comforting and it said, "Come with me. Come with me, Kitten. It would be so easy. I love you." She couldn't see the ghostly spirit tugging at her fur, pulling her down, but she knew that voice. San. "Come with me, and you won't have to worry about anything anymore." San's voice wrapped around her. It was tempting, unbelievably tempting. Death sounded so final, so terrible, but it really was a release, wasn't it? Suddenly, she heard another voice. "No, Kitten. They need you." Lan's voice was clear as a bell, reaching into her soul. "Don't give up. San loves you, but Vineyard loves you more. It's not your time yet." Kitten felt herself tearing in two, ripping right down the middle until all of a sudden the half of her that longed to be with San was gone, like a weight from her chest. She rose through the water, Lan's ghost pulling her up back to her own body, where she blinked her eyes open in her nest.
